Scientists Discover “Ghost” DNA

What the research found: Scientists from Rice University, Texas A&M, and University of Texas used aminocyanine dye molecules, which attach themselves to cancer cell membranes. Exposed to near-infrared light, these molecules vibrate so intensely that they rupture the cancer cell membranes. In test-tube experiments with human melanoma cells, they destroyed about 99% of the cancer cells. In mouse models, 50% of the treated mice became tumor-free after treatment.
